Webb14 apr. 2016 · The dominant 1.61 eV emission band shows considerable inhomogeneous line broadening . Such line broadening has been previously attributed to point defects in concentrations exceeding ∼1 ppm [11, 12]. A semi-classical model previously developed by Morgan , Stern and Breitenstein attributed this line broadening to fluctuations in the Webbinhomogeneous broadening H. D. Ramachandran, J. E. Webb5 mars 2015 · In gas lasers, where the atoms or molecules are free to move, the inhomogeneous broadening is due to the Doppler effect, for which a molecule moving with velocity v in a field of frequency ω and wave vector k experiences an effective frequency ω ′ = ω − k · v [8]. There are a number of effects which control spectral line shape. A spectral line extends over a range of frequencies, not a single frequency (i.e., it has a nonzero linewidth). In addition, its center may be shifted from its nominal central wavelength. There are several reasons for this broadening and shift. These reasons may be divided into two general categories – broadening due to local conditions and broadening due to extended conditions. Broadening due to local conditions is du…

Webb15 okt. 1991 · Isotopic disorder contributes only a little to the line broadening and depends on the isotopic composition of the material. From the phonon linewidths the anharmonic decay time of optical phonons in Ge at 80 K was determined to be m ¯(8.4±0.1)× 10 − 2 ps ( m ¯ is the average isotopic mass in atomic-mass units).
